John Stockman (custom) > This XO is from Lou C. for an Audax TM025 tweeter used in his fantastic "Topaz" design. I have a pair of the tweeters and the "Definitive" 6.5" woofers. I originally used the woofers with my Focal TC90td5 (see previous photos) which proved to be the wrong choice! Now that I have an optimized XO for the Focal mated with the Vifa P17, I needed something that would work with the Definitive woofers, and I was directed to Lou's site, www.lonesaguaro.com, where he had two designs that use this woofer with the Audax. Just what I was looking for! This combo will be a birthday present for my old friend, Rick S. He has some old speaker boxes from a second-hand store, still very useable, that I will use for these drivers. Won't he be surprised!

John Stockman (custom) > The completed x-overs for Lou C.'s "Topaz" design; low-pass on top (1st order) and high-pass on bottom (2nd order w/zobel). These will be a birthday present for a friend. He has some old cabinets that are very solid and useable (3/4" MDF walls, 13 liters volume), but the original drivers are rotted out. Also, the original x-over was just a tiny, board-level, capacitor, about 3/8" long, and as big around as a pencil! The woofer ran full-range, with no filter. Such nice old cabinets using very crappy drivers...what a shame. I just happen to have the Definitive 6.5" woofers (see previous pics of the Focal speaker) and I bought some Audax tweeters when they were on sale a while back. This was before I was told about Lou's site, so fate intervened as to how I would use these drivers. All I have to do is make a new front baffle to properly fit the Audax/Definitive into their new enclosure.

John Stockman (custom) > Here's the old boxes that my friend, Rick, had. I took out everything (which wasn't much!), lined the inside with VB-1x, and sanded down the front.

John Stockman (custom) > The mortises cut (with a Jasper circle-cutting jig) on the new front baffle. I'm using some great epoxy now for almost all gluing applications; it's the "West System" two-part epoxy. I'll use it to glue the front baffles on the old cabinets.
